I was skeptical at first. But now that I’ve tried Natural Shilajit for more than a month now, I can honestly say that you should give it a try! I was pleasantly surprised by this powerhouse mineral source and it has become a daily part of my self-care rituals. Shilajit has been used for thousands of years in Ayurvedic medicine. It is essentially a mineral pitch (tar-like resin) that builds up over hundreds of years from the breakdown of plant matter and mineral deposits. It may sound unusual, but it has an impressive range of health benefits including stress and mild pain relief, removal of toxins, hormone balance, improves gut health, brain health, energy levels, immune function etc.

There are two ways I love to take Shilajit. One is the the raw organic honey sticks that are pre-mixed with a dose of the ionic trace minerals. I simply pour one stick into a mug of hot water and stir. Super easy and convenient.

I also enjoy making a delicious hot drink by mixing a pea-size amount of the resin straight from the little jar into about 10 oz of hot water. Stir until completely blended then melt in about a teaspoon of organic creamed honey (local is best!) and about 2 oz of almond milk. Yum! I’ve enjoyed this both at night and in the morning. Sometimes I’ll whisk in a 1/4 teaspoon of maca or ashwagandha root powder too.

I do not drink coffee, or tea that contains caffeine, and typically do not have any sort of hot drink in the morning. But the past six weeks I have been loving this as my morning drink! The taste is earthy but very mild. The honey takes the edge off the slight bitterness, but I would not call it sweet either. It makes for quite a neutral drink and I now really look forward to it each morning. I’ve also enjoyed this at night several times. It is great any time of day.

So, how does it make me feel? I’ve noticed a few things. My days feel a bit more evenly paced (as in I feel more balanced energy levels throughout the day), it is slightly calming without making you drowsy at all, and another major thing I’ve noticed is my nails have been growing really healthy and incredibly strong! I also just really enjoy the taste and enjoy making a mug it each day.

Shilajit resin is rich in trace elements such as calcium, iron, zinc, copper, manganese and magnesium. It is also an incredible source of fulvic acid.

The little pot of it is lasting me quite a long time. It is only about halfway gone and I’ve been at it for about six weeks. Also, you can get a larger pack of the honey sticks than you see in my photos. Those are great for when you’re on the go or traveling. The resin in the pot can be a little difficult to get out if it the lid isn’t all the way shut and it gets exposed to air for a while, but you can run the (closed) jar under hot water for a bit to soften it. Or, what I’ve been doing is heating the edge of a spoon for 10 seconds in the flame on a gas stove and then it cuts right through the resin (please be careful if you try that!).

The best way to buy these is in the bundle of both the NutriHoney and in it’s pure form, as you’ll save $19 that way. You can also just buy a week’s supply of the honey sticks if you want to try that out first. In full disclosure I have decided to become an affiliate of Natural Shilajit because I truly love it! I rarely partner with affiliates (though i get asked from numerous companies each week) so I do not take it lightly when I promote this to you. I hope you enjoy it and see great results in your own life! – Naomi
