Holiday palettes, kits and gifts are being released left and right and while I’ll be sharing a roundup of my favorites very soon, I wanted to swatch jane iredale’s In the Blink of a Smoky Eye Kit today! It is such a pretty palette that has been created with busy women in mind. It was designed to help create quick and easy looks for all your seasonal events and includes eight versatile shades.
When you open the hard cover you are greeted by a little message from Jane, which pulls out into a foldout of five illustrated eye looks with how-to instructions using the colors in this kit: Fiery Smoke, Sizzle Smoke, Natural Smoke, Deep Smoke, and Emerald Smoke.
The shadows are housed in a mirrror finish display with three of the eight shades being twice as large. I love that they did this for the shades that I’ll use most.
The top three: Creates the perfect daytime look and I’ve been using these the most so far.
bone – matte, creamy nude
pure gold – shimmery, bright gold
dawn – shimmery rosey brown
The bottom five: Your “pop of color” shades.
rose gold – shimmery rose gold
iris – matte, cool violet
forest – matte, deep green
double espresso – matte, dark cool brown
ebony – matte black

I would describe the formula of these as very velvety – there is very little fallout and they last a long time without creasing. Also very blendable though the shades iris, forest, and double espresso do take a bit more laying and blending to build up to their full rich color than the other shades. These are vegan, cruelty-free, and paraben-free. The kit, which retails for $50, comes with a small dual-sided brush – one side is a foam applicator (which I never use) and the other a small blender brush, that while probably not as good as your favorite blender brush, will get the job done.
