With Fall around the corner we’re starting to see several new releases in the beauty world! I don’t know about you, but I get so excited when new products are revealed! jane iredale just released their new Ready to Wear Fall Collection today! They kindly sent me most of the collection a few weeks before it was released so I could try it out and let you know how I like these new products. I’ve loved jane iredale for several years now and so was very excited to see these new creations from their talented team. Continue reading for all the details!
Lip products are the first things I gravitate towards, so I reached for the PlayOn™ Lip Crayons first! These are $18 each and available in seven colors. I tried them in Blissful, Charming, and Hot. I was impressed with their formula which I found to be long-lasting, very rich in color, and velvety in texture. They contain a high concentration of moisturizing oils like castor seed oil and candelilla wax. They’re very easy to apply and get a great lip shape, even with the bright red color. They aren’t twist-up and do require a sharpener though. A little inconvenient, however that will enable the maintenance of a pointed tip, whereas twist up pencils tend to get a rounded tip over time.
These are so perfect for any occasion, and if I were still at the age where I was preparing to head back to school this fall I would definitely pop a few of these in my bag. Actually…now that I think about it, another benefit of not having a twist-up pencil is that they can’t twist up into the cap while in your bag!
Left to Right: Blissful, Hot, Charming
Blissful – Sheer shimmering gold/nude (such a cool color! I love wearing this alone for a simple golden glow or over another color to add dimension)
Charming – Matte bubblegum pink
Hot – Creamy matte red
The new PureLash Lengthening Mascara ($24) comes in a beautiful golden tube and has an amazing brush that is dual-sided. triple-length cellulose fibers to create longer, fuller looking lashes. The longer, slightly curved side is perfect for the top lashes, and the other side has really short (about 1mm) bristles that are perfect for the lower lashes. I don’t typically put mascara on my lower lashes, but this brush makes it so easy that I have been lately. The formula contains a proprietary blend of seaweed lipids and wheat protein that thicken, curl and strengthen lashes. Free of lacquers, shellac and petroleum-based ingredients.
The PurePressed® Eye Shadow Singles ($19) have shiny, sleek new packaging and come in four new colors for fall:
Mermaid – shimmery sea foam
Iris – matte cool violet
Steamy – shimmery (but not quite as shimmery as Mermaid) pink copper
Forest – matte deep green
I love all four of these new colors, but especially Mermaid and Forest worn together to create a daytime, green smoky look as I did here. First I primed my eyelids with a bit of jane iredale’s lid primer (but you can also use a bit of concealer) and then blended Mermaid over my entire lid. I took a smaller brush and applied a bit of Forest to the outer corners, and then went in again with the brush I’d used with Mermaid and blended a little bit more. It looked even better in person! I have such a hard time capturing eye looks with my iPhone.
Also, worth mentioning is that these little individual eye shadow cases are pretty resilient. I accidentally dropped them onto a hard surface a few times and was so worried the shadow inside had shattered, but when I opened them up they were totally fine!
jane iredale’s Smooth Affair for Oily Skin Facial Primer & Brightener ($48) is one of the best primers I’ve ever tried. It contains PoreAway™ technology, a proprietary complex of plant resin ingredients, which helps reduce shine, help fight blemishes, and the appearance of pores. It creates a clean, smooth, matte finish and is also vegan and cruelty-free. Now here’s the thing…the first day I used this my husband said to me, “your skin looks great today…it looks really healthy, and glowing.” I was floored. My husband doesn’t notice much and for him to pay me a compliment like that meant that this primer really had made a difference because it was the only thing I did different that day. I have combination skin, and this helped to not only even out my skin before applying makeup, but extended the wear of my makeup a few extra hours. Instead of having to take an oil blotting paper to my face midday, I didn’t have to touch up until early evening.
Over the Smooth Affair primer I like to use the jane iredale Dream Tint SPF 15 Tinted Moisturizer and finish by setting my T-zone with their PurePressed Base Pressed Mineral Powder. If you’re looking for more of an illuminated glowy look you can also mix in a small amount of their Golden Shimmer Face and Body Lotion either into the primer or the Tinted Moisturizer.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this post and that it gave you some new ideas for fall! Even if you’re not going “back to school” in a few weeks, you still deserve to treat yourself to a few new things for the upcoming season 😉 I’ll be sharing a few more new releases very soon! xo – Naomi
