There’s nothing quite like a good lip tint! I love lip tints so much because unlike a gloss or a lipstick they can be worn anywhere at anytime…I can’t think of a situation where they wouldn’t be appropriate – they’re like white t-shirts and stud earrings in the way that you could literally wear them out on the town or while you stay in and watch back to back episodes of PLL. And therefore, you can never have too many. As long as they’re free of harmful ingredients, which Alima Pure’s lip tints are. I tried their original lip tints a few years back and they were okay, but this spring they released their reformulated ones and I have to say, they’ve made a huge improvement.
Their new formula is smoother, more even in texture and color, and lightly scented with peppermint. These are, like all Alima Pure products, free of parabens, sulfates, synthetic dyes, phthalates, dimethicone, petroleum, talc, bismuth oxychloride, and nanoparticles. Also, never tested on animals. They’re $14 each and come in sleek dark coffee-colored tubes. The five shades are: Honey, Petal, Paprika, Rosewood, and Blackberry.
I love all these shades but I think I’ve caught myself wearing honey probably the most over the past few weeks. Its such a perfect nude/peach. Petal is great too (more the color of my actual lips). I wore petal in this post. Paprika is a gorgeous summer/fall color – a red with hint of orange spice. Rosewood and blackberry are quite similar but rosewood is more brown, and blackberry…well, more berry. They’re sheer, but you can build them up to medium coverage. In the swatches below I used several swipes.
The formula works like a moisturizing balm in addition to offering translucent color. The all natural formula contains cocoa seed butter, and oil from coconuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, pomegranate seeds, jojoba and a few more. Last week my lips were feeling really dry and wearing one of these for just a day helped smooth them right out. Overall, a huge thumbs up! If you’re looking for more intense color however, then check out my review of Alima Pure Velvet Lipsticks.
Hope you all have a great afternoon! And don’t forget to enter the giveaway going on this week! xo – Naomi
