Happy Earth Day! I love this day because it highlights what I love to celebrate everyday – this glorious, gorgeous planet we all share together! I thought this would be the perfect day to share my review of Hand in Hand – one of my new favorite companies. Hand in Hand was created by a husband and wife team (Bill & Courtney), who started their business in 2011 based on sustainable giving. For every bar of soap purchased, Hand in Hand donates a bar of soap and provides a month of clean water to children in the developing world.
Their products are eco-friendly and ethically harvested, Fair Trade, cruelty-free, and made with all natural ingredients. Plus they are absolutely beautiful!!! Their pretty packaging with water colored designs had me at first glance, but the products inside are equally amazing.
Rose Water Candle ($36): First of all…just look. Is this not one of the prettiest candles you’ve ever seen?! I find it irresistible and it smells heavenly (if you love floral/powdery scents, that is). Hand poured in New York, these clean burning candles are made with 100% pure USA sourced GMO free Soy Wax, with natural essential oils. They pour these into beautiful white ceramic vessels with a water color wash. I absolutely love the uneven edge and that this will make such a perfect makeup brush holder after the candle is burned down! The sturdy paper tube it comes in will also make a great holder for pencils, pens, brushes, etc.
Because it is soy wax it will last much longer than typical candles (this one is supposed to last 80 hours). I love the very words rose water. Soothing isn’t it? This scent smells clean, crisp, and powdery with hints of roses and sunlight (my interpretation). By far one of my favorite candles I’ve ever owned. Its strong, but not as strong as what I call “smelly” candles (those toxic perfumed candles that are so strong you can still smell them even when you wrap them up and hide them away).
For every candle purchased (and every product mentioned here in this post), Hand in Hand saves 50 square feet of rainforest, and donates 1 bar of soap & 1 month of clean water to a child in the developing world to help reduce deadly water related illness.
Lip Balms ($16/ 2 pack or $40 for all 6): Cutest tins ever! I tried one of each (Orange Blossom, White Tea, Lavender, Sea Salt, Rose Water, Wildflower & Fern) and am loving them so far. These are pretty big tins and will last a really long time. They each hold .07 oz. or 20gm! That’s like three regular tubes of lip balm. I like that the metal tins have lids that screw on so you don’t have to worry about them popping off in your bag.
These are hand poured with a shea butter formula that protects and moisturizes lips with a delicate and natural scent. They are 100% natural, Fair Trade, organic, vegan, cruelty-free, palm free, paraben and petrochemical free. I love that they offer a unique selection of scents.
Wildflower & Fern: Not quite sure what essential oils they used to get this crisp sunny scent…it smells very clean and reminds me of freshly washed laundry.
Lavender: Straight up lavender. Herbal, floral.
Rose Water: Rose/powdery floral.
White Tea: This might be my favorite scent in their line. Delicate floral/leaves, green/fresh, springtime.
Sea Salt: Minty/peppermint. Refreshing and sinus-clearing.
Orange Blossom: Delicate orange / sweet.
Ingredients: Soy Wax, Shea Butter, Sweet Almond Oil, Organic Coconut Oil, Essential Oils, Stevia
Sugar Scrub ($24): SO GOOD! I’m in love with this sugar scrub, and the White Tea scent. These too are hand crafted in small batches in Philadelphia where the company is based out of. It has a delicate balance of natural sugar, oils and shea butter, and gently exfoliates while leaving my skin super soft. It isn’t too oily like some sugar scrubs can be. The white tea scent lingers on the skin for a good hour after using. I love using this as a special treat, even if just on my hands at the end of a long day. 98% Natural, Fair Trade,
Organic, Cruelty Free, Vegan, Pareben & Petrochemical Free, Palm Oil Free.
Bar Soap ($18 / 2 pack or $49 for 6 pack): These pretty bars are handmade in Vermont (yay Green Mountain State!), and are made of ethically harvested, sustainable resources – 100% natural ingredients. The triple milled shea butter formula is super silky and soothing and lathers quickly. Again, such pleasing packaging, and they look so nice next to any sink! I’m not one to even typically use bar soap, but these are really nice an don’t leave any residue the way some bar soaps can. A set of these would make such a great housewarming gift! Or you could even give these out as wedding favors.
Hand in Hand also makes liquid hand soap, lotion, bath salts, and soap dishes. I highly recommend their products and will be a lifelong customer myself. I hope you enjoyed this post and got some ideas for new things to try or gift ideas! Happy Earth Day. xo – Naomi
