I have been SO excited to get my hands on this and when it landed on my desk a few days ago I squealed like a little girl about to open a birthday present. I love watercolor and I love Bite Beauty and I love sets of things, so this little library of lip glosses has made my week. This delicate palette of ethereal shades is inspired by the beauty of watercolor and it inspired me to do a little watercolor painting of my own…
I love the thought of having a “library” of lip glosses, and though these are small (.05oz each) you get a lot of interesting colors that you just don’t typically see so it is a fabulous “library” if you will. In particular, colors 1-6 (yes, they’re numbered not named) are the most unusual – a soft pastel array of glosses that you might not want to wear everyday, but that are so cool to have in case you want to create an usual look. A creamy pale yellow, lilac pink, dusty mauve, lavender, and mint green. The second half, numbers 7-12 are downright gorgeous and much more “usable.” A rich strawberry rose, dusky plum, coral, geranium pink, raspberry, and a deep violet. I LOVE that there are four purple shades here and none of them are ordinary.
Formula-wise I thought I wasn’t going to like them right when I opened them and was all worried! They seemed…not sticky, but a little more tacky then I was used to. But I tried number 11 and the longer I wore it the more I loved it. By the end of the day I was completely in love. They go on semi translucent, but are still packed with quite a bit of color for being “watercolor” inspired. They are very moisturizing and instead of wearing off, 11 seemed to just get better as the day went on. After 7 hours of wear the color had faded maybe a tiny bit but was still mostly there and it had faded so gracefully – no drying, no lines (almost like a stain, but it didn’t stain my lips) I didn’t even need to reapply after lunch. I haven’t tried any of the other colors all day yet, but so far I’m very impressed. These are so fun to experiment with!
They are infused with resveratrol (from grape vines) and free of parabens, sulfates, petrochemicals, phthalates and are certified gluten-free.
It will be launching online via Sephora for VIB Rouge members only on April 7th (tomorrow), and then online for everyone on April 16th. It is limited edition and as far as I know it will be $49. I feel so lucky to have been able to try this out ahead of time. Thank you Bite Beauty! Hopefully this post has inspired you to try something new, and get creative ; ) xo – Naomi

April 7, 2015 at 12:35 am (9 years ago)These look absolutely gorgeous! I’m wondering though – do they have a fragrance or flavor to them? The rose LE collection from last year was stunning but the overpowering rose fragrance kept me from purchasing them. Thanks for sharing!

April 12, 2015 at 9:55 pm (9 years ago)Hi Jen! Sorry for the late reply. The yellow and green ones are tricky. I honestly won’t get as much use out of those as the others, but the yellow is actually useful for layering over peach colored lipsticks (to create a lighter peach), and the green can be mixed with its opposite on the color wheel (pink) such as No.11 to create a milkier shade of pink. Hope that helps : )

May 16, 2015 at 11:05 am (9 years ago)I really like this set. I had one or two bite glosses and liked them, so I went ahead and bought this set. I could not wait to get home and sample! They are very buildable and I figured out a way to make them darker if you don’t want to wear a lipstick underneath. I applied some concealer to my lips and it made a few of the colors lovely and very true to color. I actually expected them all to have a different smell since I opened up the first one and it smelled of citrus lol… My mind went yellow= citrus. They all smell of citrus though. Not overpowering at all. My favorite color is four. Love it.
