I’ve tried some products from Josie Maran over the past 8 months or so and thought I’d share a few of my favorites here. I also love this company as a whole – Josie Maran Cosmetics is known for using 100% Pure, 100% Organic Argan Oil in their products and that Argan Oil is also sustainably harvested and pressed by women’s co-ops in Morocco. They’re all about natural beauty, sustainability, being cruelty-free, and leaving out the toxic ingredients from their formulations. You can read a message from Josie herself here.
First up is the Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelee. I’ve mentioned these several times before so you might know how much I love them already, but they’re just awesome. They’re like a blend between a cream blush and a gel. They give a sheer, buildable color that is so natural looking and lasts all day. These are $22 ea. and so worth it since one jar lasts a long time. I’m guessing one jar would last you like two years if you were to use it everyday!
These are made up of 50% coconut water! They really do let your own skin shine through. It also contains Argan oil, of course. Made without parabens, sulfates, or synthetic fragrances.
I have them in Poppy Paradise, Honeymoon Honey, Pink Escape, and Berry Bliss. It’s hard to pick a favorite. It depends on what I’m wearing, and what mood I’m in when I choose which to use. Honeymooon Honey is a very natural one…then again they all are depending on your skin tone. I love looking at them in their pretty pots…makes me feel artsy! You can see me using one of these in the How to Master No-Makeup Makeup Tutorial I just did for The Everygirl.
Next is the Argan Illuminizer. I think I have their old packaging on this one, because this is the only one on their site I could find like it now but it seems to be the same product. Would you look at that glow! I swear I hear angels sing every time I use this stuff. It is so full of pretty light-reflecting radiance. You can use it blended into your foundation (which I haven’t done yet) or just blend into areas you want to highlight (brow bone, tops of cheekbones etc.). It is moisturizing because of the Argan, vitamin E, and also has antioxidants and essential fatty acids. It does dry relatively quick though so you have to blend it out right away. Obviously I use less on my face than in this swatch…a little goes a long way!
The next item has become somewhat of an everyday staple for me. My Argan Creamy Concealer Crayon ($20) is very well used and I’ll probably have to replace it soon. I’m the lightest shade (fair 1) but it is currently available in six shades. I love how easy this is to use which is part of why I reach for it every morning lately when it comes time to conceal my under eye area and any uneven skin tone elsewhere. It is creamy, buildable, and never looks cakey. You can swipe it on in literally two seconds and then blend out with fingertips. Also, its a twist up. Free of parabens and synthetic fragrance. It’s also gluten free if any of you are wondering.
Lastly is the Argan Balm ($42) which comes in a big tin. I love balms that can be used all over for repairing dry skin or just to nourish and protect. It is 100% natural argan oil in a blend of shea butter and soothing essential oils. It doesn’t have a scent and works wonders on cuticles and dry elbows, ends of hair etc. It feels a little greasy for only about ten seconds and then soaks right in. It can melt if it gets warmer than 86 deg (as stated on package) because it is preservative free and they recommend putting it in the fridge for an hour if that happens. I should mention I also have and love their 100% Pure Argan Oil in a dropper bottle. Forgot to include that in the photos!
I hope you enjoyed these reviews and that you’re having a great day! Have you tried any Josie Maran products? Would love to know which ones you love. xo – Naomi
