A year ago it seemed like I was the only person who hadn’t tried a sonic cleansing device and I was extremely curious about them – but then I had the amazing privilege of trying the new Clarisonic Smart Profile 4-Speed sonic cleansing device months before it was even on the market (so I could consider it for inclusion in the latest issue of Sweet Violet Bride). I’ve been using this off and on for more than 6 months now and I ended up awarding it Best Exfoliator and Skincare Tool in the 2nd annual Natural Beauty Awards in that issue. I love having it in my life.

First I have to warn you that this is one of their most expensive devices at $265, so if that isn’t in your budget, no worries I’m not trying to force expensive products on you (and I’m not paid to write this review), but I would encourage you to at least consider one of their other devices, the Mia is just $99. No matter which one you decide on, I see this as an investment for your skin, health, and overall well-being and beauty.

I noticed a big difference the very first time I used it. My skin was instantly smoother, softer, and within a few uses had a glow to it that I didn’t realize I was missing. I like to use it two to three times a week for my combination skin and if I go without it for an entire week and then use it again I can definitely tell the difference. What I love most about the Smart Profile is that it has 4 speeds and T-Timer prompts. This is a major difference from their other models. I’ve heard about how some people can overuse these devices, but the T-Timer prompts help you to use it just enough and not too much! I use it with the sequence below and on the 10 second cheek segments it does a less intense/softer speed. It is so nice to just close your eyes and gently cleanse not having to worry about over scrubbing on any one part of your face.

1) 20 seconds on Forehead

2) 20 seconds on Nose and Chin

3) 10 seconds on one Cheek

4) 10 secondson other Cheek

This thing uses a sonic frequency of more than 300 movements per second which simply cleanses and removes makeup better than hands alone…(11x better they claim on the product page for this device). I also love how long the battery lasts on it. SO long. And when it is getting low on power and needs to be charged, a little light comes on and lets you know. I think I’ve only charged it two or three times in 6 months! It will also notify you when it needs the brush head replaced. I haven’t had to replace mine yet, but I also don’t use this daily – again, I find that my skin likes it about three times per week to keep skin soft and smooth, pores clean and minimized.

With this I use whatever cleansing cream, or face wash I’m using at the time and it seems to do pretty well with most of them. It does come with a small gel cleanser (not sure of the ingredients) and refining skin polish (paraben-free) but I haven’t really used these as I’ve been trying out so many other things lately. It includes a stand and an extra brush head also.

I’d say, if you’re on the fence about this, then definitely give it a try! Especially if you’re a bride-to-be but really any time in your life. I love mine and definitely want to get one of their Barrel Bags to store it in when traveling (even though I don’t travel much, ha!).
