I was never big on bronzer, probably because I was never introduced to the right shade for my fair skin and grew up associating the word ‘bronzer’ with those people who have been to the tanning bed one too many times. I’m all for an all natural, no-makeup look when it comes to skin. Recently though I tried Genfiore’s Hydrasheer Mineral Pressed Bronzer in Bahamas (the box in the photo below was mislabeled). With just a gentle application below the cheek bones, temples, and top of the forehead I realized that with the right shade and right amount (moderation is key) bronzer can be a beautiful thing.
The formula is silky and easy to blend. It is infused with the majestic Buriti fruit and other natural botanicals and extracts so it is good for your skin. Also free of talc or parabens – huge plus! I like having it in a compact with a mirror so I can take it with me, too. Bahamas is, as you can see from the swatch below, not too orange, and a very pretty matte shade of creamy mocha/sand. I have very fair skin (typically wear the lightest or second lightest shades of foundations and concealers) and it works very well. There is no shimmer in it which in my book is a great thing. You don’t necessarily want shimmer where you’re trying to contour shadows (i.e. cheekbones). You can add shimmer where you want it later with a separate highlighter. At $24 CAD (about $21 US dollars) this is a great find and it also comes in a darker shade, St. Barts. Though this was sent to me as a pr sample it is definitely something I will repurchase when I run out.
Genfiore also sent me some eyeshadow samples recently and I wanted to share those as well. These come in cute little compacts with flip lids and the colors are amazing.
From left to right: Iridescent Aqua, Copper, Orchid, Matte Bone
These are highly pigmented and super compact. The color will swatch on your fingertip very easily but it is harder to transfer to the lid – it works best to dab on with fingertips a few times and then blend with a brush for example. Once it is on though, it has great staying power. Because these are so compact they also work great to apply with a damp brush for an even more intense look. I love the copper color for everyday wear. It is absolutely gorgeous. Matte bone, also can be used everyday for a base shade, blending, and for a nice matte brow bone shade. Iridescent Aqua is a fun peacock feather blue/green with a beautiful golden sheen to it. This is one of those shadows I open all the time even if I’m not wearing it just to look at it in the light (oOh, pretty). Orchid is a vibrant purple with little flecks of iridescent blue shimmer but is otherwise a matte shade if that makes sense. You know I love my purples!
These, also are paraben and talc free and are infused with Buriti fruit oil, natural botanicals and extracts. There are more than 25 shades of these which you can check out here. At $14.35 CAD (about $13 US) each these are also a reasonable price for a natural, botanical eyeshadow with great long-wearing color.
