I recently received a few pr samples of the new Lip Crayons from Burt’s Bees and wanted to share my thoughts on them with you because they are different from a lot of the lip crayons out there right now. On their site they are described as “creamy, full-coverage matte lip color,” and that is spot-on, just less creamy and more matte than I expected. They are truly a very matte finish and at first I thought they might be drying but I’ve worn them for several days now, even out on walks in 30-degree weather and they didn’t dry my lips out. I’ve really come to quite like them!

They didn’t provide a ton of hydration but if you want more hydration just apply a balm a few minutes before (I’m loving their new Hydrating Lip Balm with Coconut & Pear!). I think the point of these though is really more about the long-lasting matte color. I was really impressed with the color payoff, how long they stayed put, and how lightweight they feel. They are the type of lip product you can go throughout your day and forget you’re even wearing. Another thing I loved is that they don’t have a scent to them. If you want an ultra hydrating tinted balm that feels silky and creamy and semi-glossy then these aren’t what you’re looking for, but if you’re looking for a fragrance-free true matte color these are fantastic.

The caps have a cute honeycomb design on them. They currently come in six shades and I was sent three beautiful pink tones:

Carolina Coast – A cool light pink with a hint of mauve.
Hawaiian Smolder – A warm rose that would look good on so many different people.
Niagra Overlook – A warm pink with a hint of coral.

Burt's Bees Lip Crayon Swatches

Burt's Bees Lip Crayon in Carolina CoastHere I have Carolina Coast on my lips. This one looks so natural on fair skin and is the one I’ve been wearing most, so far. These are also great for a base layer on top of which you can wear your favorite lip gloss. $9 each is a pretty good price point, plus what’s not to love about 100% natural ingredients! xo – Naomi

I’m excited to try these out. I’m going to try “Carolina Coast”.

Do you happen to know what nail color you have on in this post?

I got the Caroline Coast one and it looked so purple on me, and it was dry as well. Definitely not a good look.

Oh no! I wonder if it was an “off” batch?
