Hello Beauties! It’s been a month since I’ve posted (eek!) as I’ve been busy finishing up issue 2 of Sweet Violet Bride, but I’m back and I have tons of great reviews, how-to’s and more lined up for you this summer! Speaking of which, happy first day of SUMMER!
A new natural beauty brand has recently entered my radar. Genfiore Cosmetics is owned and operated by makeup artist Sabrina Fiorino whose passion for beauty and holistic living, led her to the path and interest of developing her own safe and natural makeup line. All of their products are paraben free, made from certified organic ingredients and are not tested on animals. And they kindly sent me a few samples for review along with a cute little gold makeup bag!
First I’d like to introduce you to my latest lip gloss addiction – Genfiore’s Hydrasheer Botanic Lip Gloss. When I find a gloss I really, really like it is SO exciting (glossaholics you know what I mean). This gloss comes in 14 shades and is not sticky at all. It’s so silky and makes my lips feel ah-mazing. It contains organic sunflower and jojoba oils but doesn’t feel oily either the way some non-sticky glosses can be. It also has smoothing shea and cocoa butter which is what gives it the smoothness (and light cocoa scent!) that I love so much. These butters create lipid barrier that nourishes and protects for a long time. It slowly soaks into lips over the day without causing buildup after reapplications. I tried it in Pomegranate which I was worried would be too red, but it’s sheer and quite a lovely color. Beautiful for layering too!
I also tried their Hydrasheer Botanic Lip Color in Matte Rose. It’s matte, yet not matte. It isn’t glossy or shiny but it does have a slight shimmer to it, which I find very pretty. It’s a lovely fuchsia rose color and I love that it is super moisturizing compared to many lipsticks. It is infused with organic shea butter and beeswax, vitamin E and botanical extracts so that it is nourishing while it also provides long wearing color. I think this one is available in like 18 shades! I’d definitely recommend if you’re looking for an all-natural lip color made with organic ingredients.
And then there is the Hydrasheer Pressed Mineral Blush, which I was happily surprised by. This one comes in six shades and I tried it in Valentine. At first look it might appear really bright, but a sheer layer on fair skin creates a warm pink glow with a tiny bit of peach in it. I love that it has a nice matte finish with very little shimmer in it. It’s also a nice silky formula that seems to last. It is infused with Buriti fruit oil (extremely rich in essential fatty acids and carotenoids, and one of the richest sources of beta-carotene).
I’d say the one and only drawback of this brand is the packaging is very plain, and feels a little cheap (and very lightweight) but it works fine. This might not even bother some of you, but regardless, the quality of the product inside is superb and these products are well worth the price ($13-$14.50 CAD, about $12-14 US). The lip gloss is probably my favorite, and I’ll definitely be purchasing when my sample runs out. Their eyeshadows look amazing too. You can check out their whole line at genfiore.com.
